I've started a small project sketching the national animal of each country. With these first two I have just used a paintbrush to begin with, rather than sketching it out with a pencil first. It's a bit riskier, but is more fun, especially as I add the pencil, crayon, and pastels after to really bring out the character! Here are the first couple: Afghanistan - Snow Leopard Lots of countries! - Golden Eagle I think the Golden Eagle is one of the most popular national animals. They are certainly breathtaking!

This year started out crazy busy which meant I had to take a break from my artwork for a little while. Last week was my first opportunity to get stuck back in and I started with a simple project of sketching endangered species from around the world. This was great way to regain my confidence with drawing (it's feels like it's been a long time) and just have some fun drawing animals (my favourite thing). Most of these animals I've never even attempted before, so it was good practice. Here is the result: Java + Sumatran Rhinos Amur Leopard Sunda Island Tiger Mountain Gorilla Tapanuli Orangutan Yangtze Finless Porpoise Black Rhino African Forest Elephant Sumatran Orangutan Hawksbill Turtle
I'm really late with my sketches for Christmas cards this year! Better late than never, though! I got to sketch a neighbour's highland cattle last week and they will definitely be featuring in this year's designs! I'm trying something a little different style-wise. I love the linocut look and wanted to try a similar effect with watercolours. We'll see how that goes . . . :)
